Colour isn't just something we see, it's something that we feel.
Brainstorming for editorial shoots at Irish Tatler HQ is always an experience - we want the images to look fresh, the styling to be cool and contemporary, but mostly, we aim to build on a super-strong, premium concept.
For editorials, our creative process usually involves lots of mood boarding, location-sourcing and batting around ideas on how we can push the boundaries, but when Huawei came to us with the brief to shoot using their new P30 Pro smartphone, we knew immediately where to take to the concept.
The new P30 Pro features a uniquely designed camera lens, so every intricate detail of your life can be captured in full colour. Employing a colour filter that uses RYYB instead of the traditional RGGB, replacing greens for yellow, Huawei's redesigned lens lets in more light for clearer photos.
In Living Colour
Shot entirely on the Huawei P30 Pro by leading photographer, Evan Doherty the shoot for our August issue of Irish Tatler took inspiration from the phone's own three colourways and creating your own full-colour style rules.
With looks styled by Brian Conway, high-end designer brands such as Givenchy, Mary Katrantzou and Christopher Kane all featured in creating the hyper-real, futuristic aesthetic.
Breathing Crystal, a glistening blue that moves into purple when reflecting the light, made the perfect accessory for a mirror-like satin dress.
Aurora, a mysterious shade of dark blue fuses with emerald green makes for an ethereal look.
Ever-chic Black made for a chic accompaniment to the season's shades of rust and monochrome.
It's not just about seeing colour either, it's about the feelings the shades evoke too.
Breathing Crystal serves to inspire and calm, Aurora stimulates thought and focus; while Black adds a dramatic touch.
Three different and striking beauty looks by acclaimed makeup artist Christine Lucignano and hair by Darren Lacken added further to the full-colour moment; a touch of sparkle on the eye for Breathing Crystal, a dramatic red lip for Aurora and a smokey black liner for Black.
