The new Dublin 1 haunt is just around the corner from PantiBar.

Panti Bliss – owner of one of Dublin's most well-known and well-loved pubs – has revealed the good news that the capital is getting another queer-friendly space in the form of a sister bar.

Penny Lane – a nod to Bliss' Jack Russell, Penny – is opening mere footsteps away from the original haunt, on Great Strand Street.

The new gay bar – which has enormous and sequinned shoes to fill – boasts parquet flooring, exposed brick and jungle green front doors that will undoubtedly become synonymous with Dublin's nightlife scene.

Penny Lane is a joint venture between the self-labelled "gender discombobulist" and LGBT activist and business Partner Shane Harte, who has managed Panti Bar since it opened in 2007.

Speaking to JOE.ie, Bliss revealed that Penny Lane will have more of a 'grown-up' feel, in comparison with Panti Bar – whose karaoke nights and drinks promos are legendary.

She also revealed that doors will open for the very first time on Valentine's Day.
