The Favourite is nominated for 12 gongs. 

Ringing true to its name, The Favourite conquered all when it came to nomination lists for the 72nd BAFTA Awards, revealed early Wednesday morning.

Yorgos Lanthimos' dark comedy – following the lives of Queen Anne, Lady Sarah and servant Abigail as they navigate the early 18th-century war against the French – came away with 12 nominations, shortlisted in most of the main categories.

Meanwhile, Bohemian RhapsodyFirst ManRoma and A Star Is Born, each received seven nominations. 

The Favourite has already won a string of accolades on the awards circuit, including the Grand Jury Prize and Best Actress for Olivia Colman at the Venice Film Festival, 10 BIFA's including Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Costume Design and Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for Olivia Colman at the Golden Globes. 

The winners will be announced on 10 February at the Royal Albert Hall, with Joanna Lumley hosting for a second year running.
