Outlander Star Sam Heughan On First Meeting Caitriona Balfe

When Jamie met Claire...

The on-screen husband and wife filmed an adorable video for their fans, containing all their favourite moments so far.

Outlander is currently celebrating its five year anniversary. Which means five years of romance, time travel, and a shirtless Sam Heughan.

The show first premiered on Starz on August 9, 2014. Since then, Outlander has become a worldwide phenomenon. Millions tune in for new episodes of the show with it continuously being streamed on Amazon Prime.

For the uninitiated, Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world and her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two extremely different worlds.

But now as we await season 5 and are currently in, what fans are calling, Droughtlander, the stars of the show, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe took to Instagram to commemorate the show's anniversary and giving us patient fans a trip down memory lane.

"The first time we met, we were in the stables and I remember you came in and we just had no idea what we were getting ourselves into,” Heughan said to Balfe. “I guess we were both a little bit shy and nervous."

"I had no idea this was going to be my telly wife for the next 5, 6 years!"

“Was that the day you told me I looked really mature on film?” Balfe quips back cleverly, proving she and her character are not so different.

Sadly, that's where the video ends and it seems fans will have to wait a little while longer than usual to catch up with Jamie and Claire as the premiere of season five has been pushed back to early 2020.
