It’s one of the most hotly anticipated new films of the year and now Mary, Queen of Scots brings together two of Ireland’s brightest stars.

Saoirse Ronan, who plays Mary (alongside Margot Robbie’s Queen Elizabeth I) will be at a special screening of the film in Dublin’s Stella Theatre this evening, Friday 11 January.

Irish activists and writer, Sinead Burke will host a q&a with Saoirse, who is already receiving serious Oscar buzz about her role.

The conversation will touch on the themes of the film and, no doubt, Saoirse's incredible film career, and the whole thing will be streamed live. It starts at 3pm and you’ll be able to watch it on the Universal Pictures Ireland YouTube Channel here:

Mary, Queen of Scots comes to Irish cinemas on 18 January. It centres on the turbulent life of 16th century queen, Mary Stuart. Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, she returned to her native Scotland to reclaim her throne – and deal with a fraught relationship with England’s formidable Queen Elizabeth I. Two strong and powerful women in a man’s world.
