From what to binge on Netflix to what to eat and where...here's how to spend May

Maybe we'll finally see some good weather too...

Late spring but more like early Summer, May is a month to look forward to. With a bank holiday, the MET Gala, Justin Timberlake and Star Wars memes spamming up your feed, there's a lot to be enjoyed this month.

Below, we've rounded up everything new coming to a city street or screen near you.

EAT

At: Chimac

Located on Aungier Street, the restaurant will offer a Korean dining experience with a menu featuring chicken burgers, pieces and wings, as well as vegetarian options such as cauliflower wings and seitan and beer. Inspired by a trip to Seoul, Chimac is the brainchild of Sofie Rooney and Garett Fitzgerald. The name is a compound word that comes from Chi which means chicken and Mac which means beer. The Korean inspired eatery will open its doors towards the end of May.

WATCH

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile

We first got a look at Zac Efron as Ted Bundy in January 2018 when Zac posted a photo to his Instagram captioned "Meet Ted." Then, earlier this year, the deeply unsettling trailer dropped. Now, the wait is over as Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is finally hitting Irish cinemas on May 3. The film seems the former heartthrob channelling the remorseless sociopath that was Ted Bundy with absolute meticulous precision - all from the perspective of Bundy's girlfriend, Liz.

Their newfound freedom will be fun... but dangerous.  As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive.

WEAR

Your Dad's Wardrobe

The dad-trend movement has been gaining traction over the past year with padded jackets and anoraks of Balenciaga and Vetements taking centre stage. Since then, we've seen even the most fashionable women swap their wide-brimmed straw hats for old-school logo-emblazoned baseball caps. Now, we're seeing everything from shell suits, to white chunky trainers, to straight-leg jeans, giant spectacles, bum bags and double denim walk down not only the runways (which are notion filled at the best of times) but the streets of Dublin too -and, we're into it.

BUY

A metal straw

It's 2019 and our planet is dying, it's time to change this. One easy way to do this is to cut down on single-use plastics like straws. While paper straws are a sustainable alternative to plastic, they're not the greatest replacement - so much so that more than 36,000 people have signed a petition to bring back McDonald's plastic straws. Let's not go backwards, switch out plastic straws for reusable metal straws that come with a fun pipe-cleaner.
