How Women Are Changing The Conversation At Taste Of Dublin

This year’s schedule features so many super female chefs.

Below, five of the many trailblazing women who merit your attention at this year's Taste of Dublin.

Taste of Dublin takes place over five days from September 1st to 5th at Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens, and this year’s schedule features a stellar array of women who are changing conversations in Ireland’s food industry.

Starting with chef and author Rachel Allen, who will open Taste of Dublin on Wednesday, September 5th, the lineup is almost 50% female.

So, who’s worth watching, and what can you learn? Irish Tatler selects four of the many trailblazing women who merit your attention at Taste of Dublin.

Lily Ramirez Foran

Meet a woman on a mission to change how we think about Mexican food. Lily Ramirez-Foran is the owner of grocery and cookery school Picado Mexican in Dublin’s Portobello, and a busy writer whose first cookbook, Tacos is due for release next spring. Based in Ireland for twenty years, word of Ramirez Foran’s magical Mexican cooking has spread far and wide, with Picado Mexican being featured in the legendary food documentary ‘F*ck That’s Delicious’ with VICELAND in March.

You can sample a little of what makes Lily Ramirez Foran so magnetic when she takes to the Taste Theatre stage at 4pm on Sunday September 5 (Book the 3.45pm - 6.45pm session HERE)

Ellie Kisyombe

Based on a shared belief that Direct Provision is a deeply flawed system, Ellie Kisyombe founded the non-profit organisation Our Table with food writer Michelle Dermody. Our Table aims to develop people’s existing culinary skills to give them the confidence, support, and practical experience necessary to start their own food businesses or gain employment. The social enterprise also aims to preserve and celebrate authentic recipes from diverse cultural heritages.

At Taste of Dublin 2021, Ellie and her inspirational team from Our Table will be showcasing and selling a selection of products including worldwide inspired hot sauces, hummus and much more, and across the five days of the festival. Find out more on

And don’t miss…

Kildare-bred, Dublin-based content creator Niamh O’Sullivan, who gets fired up about food, sustainability, style and travel. Niamh is partnering up with Dyson to demonstrate how cooking certain foods can affect air quality in the home, and using some nifty Dyson gadgets to combat those effects. She’ll also serve as a judge for the Dyson Style Afternoon on Friday September 3rd, where she’ll be joined by Irish Tatler editor Jessie Collins in the search for Taste’s best dressed man or woman. The judges’ scouting session will take place from 12-3pm, with the overall winner set to bag a Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, a Dyson Airwrap hair styler and a Dyson Corrale hair straightener (check out our review of the Corrale HERE).
