Roz Purcell: The Empowering Social Media Star Who Wants You To Be Your Own Hero

This is a woman who knows how to create a large quantity of content that is focused on quality

Roz Purcell is a best-selling cookery author and entrepreneur and winner of the Irish Tatler Women of The Year Social Award.

With an Instagram following of 276k, she is one of Ireland's leading lifestyle influencers and uses her platform to advocate simple recipes and tips to help others lead a healthier lifestyle. She is always unfailingly honest and it’s this refreshing approach that has seen her follower count multiple in the thousands in recent years.

Fighting The Pressure

As one of Ireland's most successful models, she knows all about the pressure that comes with the industry and how its all-too-easy to slip into diets or eating patterns that cause havoc when it comes to your mind and body.  To this end, she has been using her social media platforms to advocate for sustainable fashion and recycling to mental health awareness and body positivity.

She said of her choice to focus on food and her lifestyle habits:

Having developed a negative relationship with food that led me to make unhealthy choices, I changed my lifestyle by rediscovering my love of cooking

With a love for hiking, travelling and modelling as well as cooking, the 29-year-old knows how to create a large quantity of content that is focused on quality – much like her attitude to food.

A woman of multiple talents, she also has a successful media career which includes a winning role on Come Dine with Me Ireland, a guest chef appearance on TV3’s The Restaurant, and a stint as a Celebrity Bainisteor on RTE. Her new nine-part podcast Bite Back takes her social following a step further to discuss body confidence, eating disorders, self-love and self-acceptance with various guests.

Confident & Comfortable

“It's taken me 29 years to be comfortable with being myself,” she wrote on Instagram the night of her win.

I think, as women, we can make ourselves feel really crap about ourselves from what we are capable of, to how we look or how we think we should look. It was euphoric to experience the atmosphere in the room with so many women egging each other on and building each other up but we have to remember to do that for ourselves too… BUILD YOURSELF UP.
