SMEG X Dolce & Gabbana just unveiled its latest collab and we're can't stop looking at that fridge!
Two luxury Italian powerhouses have joined forces to bring you what is possibly the most ornate appliances we have ever seen. We know: we didn't think we could be as intrigued by an oven hood either, but to see Dolce&Gabbana X Smeg range cooker and extractor is to behold white goods as you've never seen them before.
The pieces were unveiled as part of the luxury interiors trade fair Salone del Mobile yesterday at an exclusive event in Milan's Metropol, home to the brand's runway shows each season. This is the third instalment of Divina Cucina (translation: Divine Cuisine) and it features two vastly different sets of matching Victoria range cooker, hood and the iconic Smeg FAB28 fridge.
The blue and white iterations of the collection are an ode to Italy's maiolica ceramic pottery that features depictions of Mount Etna and the ruins of ancient temples and mythological stories. Meanwhile, the vibrant orange appliances with golden yellow lemons, prickly pears and bright cherries of Sicily set to the backdrop of geometric shapes make up the second set and have strong connections to the SS18 fashion collections that ruled the catwalks from the design house.
Of course, technically, the specs of the fridge, cooker and hood are top notch, but let's be honest about the fact that these are style pieces for any home brave enough to take them in. The prices is available on application only, although we do know that the hand-decorated fridges in last year's 'Sicily My Love' collections were worth as much as €37,000. We hear these versions are going to be much more affordable (say, less than €2,000?) thanks to being reproduced and wrapped instead of painted by hand. It's still a spendy refrigerator, but hey: The cost of knowing your Aperol spritz is chilling in your Dolce? Priceless.
